The Process
Four stages,
measured in seasons.
From the quarry face to the crate that lands at your project — every Stone & Deco piece passes through four deliberate stages. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is outsourced beyond our reach.
Stage One — At the Source
Responsible Material Sourcing
Every piece begins long before the workshop — at the quarry face, the riverbed, the timber yard.
Our material team travels the volcanic ridges, riverbeds and forest concessions of Java to select stone, river pebble and timber by hand. Density, grain, veining and provenance are evaluated block by block.
We work only with quarries and timber yards that operate under legal permits, observe replanting cycles and treat their workers with dignity. Material that does not meet our standard never leaves the source.
“Stone is chosen, not ordered.”
Stage Two — In the Workshop
Artisan Craftsmanship
In Yogyakarta, master artisans translate drawings into three dimensions — by chisel, by lathe, by hand.
Each piece passes through the hands of a single craftsman from rough block to finished form. Carvers, turners and metalsmiths work in small ateliers, many of them family-run for three generations.
Production runs are intentionally small. We protect the maker's tempo so that detail, proportion and tonal consistency are never sacrificed to volume.
“A correspondence between maker and material.”
Stage Three — The Final Surface
Finishing & Quality Control
Surfaces are honed, polished, hammered, oiled or patinated according to the brief — and inspected piece by piece.
Finishes are sampled and approved before serial production begins, then matched to the master sample throughout the run. Edges are softened, joints are aligned, undersides are signed.
Our in-house QC team checks every piece against the approved reference for tone, dimension, finish and structural integrity before it is cleared for crating. Anything that does not pass is returned to the bench.
“Approved by hand. Twice.”
Stage Four — From Yogyakarta to the World
Export Packaging & Global Delivery
Finished pieces are crated to international shipping standards and dispatched from Indonesian ports to projects worldwide.
Custom wooden crates, foam beds and corner protection are built around each piece. FCL and LCL consolidations are handled in-house with full export documentation — invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and fumigation where required.
We ship regularly to the USA, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, South Africa and South Korea, coordinating with project managers and freight forwarders for site-ready delivery.
“Crated for a continent. Delivered to a room.”
